Full and Partial Pool Demolition for Bay County Properties
Full Pool Removal
Full pool removal pulls the entire pool out of the ground. We break down the shell, remove every piece of concrete and rebar, haul all materials off the property, then backfill the cavity with clean fill and compact it in lifts so the soil settles correctly over time. The result is a fully open lot you can build on, landscape over, or use for any purpose – and a clean disclosure when you sell. Full removal is the right call if you’re planning new construction on the footprint, want to maximize property value, or just want the cleanest possible reset.
Partial Pool Removal
Partial pool removal is the faster, more budget-friendly option. We drain the pool, break down the upper 18 to 36 inches of wall, perforate the bottom of the shell so groundwater can drain, then backfill the cavity with the broken concrete and clean fill before compacting and grading the surface. The result is a level, usable yard for landscaping, lawn, or light-duty use. It won’t support a new structure on the footprint, but for most backyards it gets you everything you want at a fraction of the cost of full removal.
What’s Included in a Pool Demolition Project
A pool demolition with The Dumpster Guy is a complete service. A typical project includes:
- On-site walkthrough and scoping (full vs. partial)
- Guidance on Bay County and municipal permit requirements
- Pool draining and water disposal
- Coordination of utility disconnects for pool equipment
- Mechanical demolition of the shell, walls, and decking as scoped
- Removal of screen enclosures, pumps, filters, and pool equipment when included
- Complete debris hauling and disposal
- Backfill with clean fill, compacted in lifts
- Final site grading and cleanup
If you’re handling other outdoor projects at the same time – tearing out a deteriorated pool deck, clearing landscape debris, or hauling renovation waste – we also rent 10, 15, and 20 yard roll-off dumpsters that pair well with backyard projects.

Pool Demolition FAQs
What’s the difference between full and partial pool removal?
Full removal pulls out the entire pool shell and all surrounding materials, leaving a fully open lot ready to build, plant, or pour over. Partial removal breaks down and removes the upper walls (usually 18 to 36 inches below grade), perforates the bottom for drainage, then backfills and compacts the cavity. Partial is faster and lower-cost; full is required if you plan to build a structure on the footprint.
Do I need a permit to demolish a pool in Bay County?
Yes. Pool removal in Bay County and the incorporated cities requires a demolition permit from the local building department, and the work is typically inspected. We’ll walk you through what’s needed for your address.
How long does pool demolition take?
A partial pool removal is usually completed in a few days. Full removals take longer because the entire shell has to come out, debris has to be hauled, and the cavity has to be properly backfilled and compacted. We’ll give you a project-specific timeline at the walkthrough.
What about the pool decking and surrounding concrete?
Decking, surrounding concrete, screen enclosures, and pool equipment can all be removed as part of the pool demolition project. Tell us what you want gone and we’ll scope it together.
Do I have to disclose a filled-in pool when I sell the property?
In Florida, sellers generally have to disclose material facts about a property, and a partially or fully removed pool typically qualifies. A full removal is often viewed more favorably by buyers and lenders than a partial fill-in. Talk to your real estate agent about how to handle disclosure for your specific situation.
What happens to all the debris?
Hauling and disposal are part of our quote. We remove the pool shell, decking, and any associated materials, then dispose of them at the appropriate facility, recycling concrete and metal where possible.
